I could eat salmon every.ย Darn. Day.

For reals.

Whenever I go out to eat, I always gravitate towards it. (Yes, even at the Keg!)

It’s probably because I hadn’t found a way to cook it at home that I really, really love.

That is until now….check this out dear friend:

I’m changing my tune!

I now have a super delicious salmon recipe I can put together without much fuss at home.

This Simple Sweet Salmon with Baby Bok Choy is sooooo yum and easy to make.

And pairing it with the baby bok choy helps keep it interesting if you feel a wee overdone on spinach, kale or other greens.

Of course, the salmon is full of omega3 fats and we’ve got a nice hit of fibre and calcium from the bok choy. Calories are decent too.

Speaking of calories….did you go out for dinner in Ontario lately and notice something different on the menu?

Restaurant chains with 20 locations or more, are now required by law to have the calories visible on the menu.

Of course I’m all for calories on the menu. I’ve had so many clients lately make a different choice because of the information in front of them.

And yes, it isn’t about protein, carbs, fibre, calcium, etc but I do believe it’s a start to getting us – the consumers – more choices that are delicious and healthy when eating out.

Simple Sweet Salmon with Baby Bok Choy

Simple Sweet Salmon with Baby Bok Choy


  • 4 salmon fillets

  • 2 Tbsp canola oil

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 Tbsp white vinegar

  • 2 tsp fresh grated ginger

  • 2 tsp fresh minced garlic

  • 4 heads of baby bok choy, washed and sliced lengthwise

  • Brown basmati rice


  1. Cook rice as per instructions on package.

  2. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.

  3. While rice cooks, whisk the sauce ingredients together.

  4. Coat the top of 4 fresh salmon fillets.

  5. Heat pan on medium heat on the stove. When it's hot, pan sear the salmon (skin side up) for about 2-3 minutes.

  6. Then bake the fillets in the oven (skin side down) for about 20 min or until done (the fish should flake easily with a fork).

  7. When the salmon is almost done, pan fry the baby bok choy in the same pan that the salmon was in - if you have any leftover sauce, add that too. Sautee for a couple minutes, until the green leaves start to wilt a little.

  8. Remove the salmon from oven when done.

  9. Sprinkle the salmon with sesame seeds and serve with pan fried baby bok choy and brown basmati rice
